RIM BlackBerry Playbook Review - HotHardware

HotHardware have published their review of the RIM BlackBerry Playbook. 'The BlackBerry PlayBook measures 5.1x7.6x0.4 inches, giving it a footprint that's roughly equivalent to a paperback book. Additionally, it weighs less than a pound (about 0.9 pounds to be more specific). The majority of the front of the tablet is consumed by the PlayBook's 7-inch display that supports a resolution of 1024 x 600. Although the screen did attract some fingerprints during the course of our review, they never appeared to affect performance. Viewing angles on the PlayBook's display were excellent. In fact, we were still able to read the PlayBook's display at nearly a 90 degree angle to the screen.'

RIM BlackBerry PlayBook Review - Reg Hardware

Reg Hardware have published their review of the RIM BlackBerry PlayBook 7in tablet. 'Arguably, the signature product of RIM, in fact, isn't e-mail but security. The company is obsessed with having security strong enough to completely protect sensitive, valuable business data. It excels at it, which sometimes brings it into conflict with governments who want RIM to be more accessible to them. Take that on board, and the absence makes more sense. RIM's stance is that the biggest leaks of data come from employees leaving laptops on trains and the like. So the PlayBook uses something called BlackBerry Bridge, an application which connects the tablet to a BlackBerry phone using Bluetooth and reads the e-mails, calendar and contacts from the handset. You can write e-mails on the tablet, but everything is saved to the phone. Nothing is left on the PlayBook once you disconnect.'

BlackBerry PlayBook Review - Pocketables

BlackBerry-PlayBook-Pocketables.jpg

Pocketables have published a review of the BlackBerry PlayBook. 'The PlayBook is RIM's attempt at defeating the iPad's strong grip on the market. The screen is a 7", WSVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1024x600. Powering that screen is a dual-core 1GHz processor, which is actually required for its OS, dubbed QNX. (We'll get to that a little later.) In terms of storage, you can buy the tablet in 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB varieties. I had a 16GB model. It also has two 1080p-capable cameras, one on the front and one on the back. It's capable of pushing the videos you've recorded with those cameras via HDMI, as well.'

BlackBerry PlayBook Review - Tech Radar

BlackBerry-PlayBook-TechRadar.jpg

Tech Radar have published their review of the BlackBerry PlayBook. 'The BlackBerry PlayBook is designed to be mobile and business-friendly. That means, at 130x194mm, the device is small enough to hold with one hand, slip in a laptop bag side pouch, and even carry around all day to meetings. The smaller screen does make movies look less than thrilling, and there's not much space for more complex tablet apps. Like the 730g Motorola Xoom and 599g Samsung Galaxy Tab, the PlayBook feels a little heavier than its actual weight of 425g.'

BlackBerry PlayBook Review - Tablet PC Review

BlackBerry-PlayBook-TabletPCReview.jpg

Tablet PC Review have published a review of the BlackBerry PlayBook. 'The BlackBerry PlayBook doesn't deviate from the standard rectangular tablet design. Just like its smartphone brethren, it looks extremely professional, sporting an all black body and display trim. The seven-inch display dominates the front, as there are no physical buttons on the surface. BlackBerry branding appears just below the screen, and the three-megapixel front-facing camera appears above the display. RIM wisely decided to place the stereo speaks on the front-side of the PlayBook, with two thin grille slots placed on either side of the screen, between the frame and the body casing.'

BlackBerry PlayBook Review - Laptop Mag

BlackBerry-PlayBook-LaptopMag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published their review of the new BlackBerry PlayBook. 'Sleek and minimalist, the BlackBerry PlayBook feels good in your hands thanks to a soft-touch backside. Measuring 7.6 x 5.1 x 0.4 inches, RIM's slate is a hair thinner than the original Samsung Galaxy Tab but is an ounce and a half heavier (14.9 vs 13.4 ounces). Regardless, the PlayBook was comfortable to hold during longer stretches of web surfing and gaming. Unlike the 1.3-pound iPad 2, this tablet is also compact enough to slip into a jacket pocket or purse. The front side of the PlayBook has an enlarged bezel that surrounds the 7-inch display, which is used for performing various gestures (more on those below). You'll find the front-facing 3-megpaixel camera above the screen, along with a notification LED. Two speakers flank the left and right sides of the display.'

BlackBerry PlayBook Review - CNET

By Admin on April 15, 2011 12:12 AM | No Comments

BlackBerry-PlayBook-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. 'The BlackBerry PlayBook is probably the smallest high-profile tablet to come out in 2011. Measuring 5 inches tall, 7.5 inches wide, and a slim 0.4 inch thick, the PlayBook's design has more in common with the Galaxy Tab of 2010 than the 10-inch tablets making headlines this year. To RIM's credit, the PlayBook is the most powerful 7-inch tablet we've tested, and the lightweight design comes in under a pound. One of the first things you'll notice about the PlayBook is the complete lack of buttons on the front. Like the Motorola Xoom, all of the PlayBook's navigation is handled using onscreen controls. A 0.7-inch bezel frames the 1,024x600-pixel-resolution screen, which is bordered by a pair of slender stereo speaker grilles. Above the screen you'll see a 3-megapixel camera staring back at you, along with an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts screen brightness.'
