Apple iPad 2 Review - Paul Stamatiou

Apple-iPad-2-Paul-Stamatiou.jpg

Paul Stamatiou have pave published a review of the Apple iPad 2 internet tablet. 'Steve Jobs was not lying, it is an absolute pleasure to browse the web on this thing. Scrolling by hand just feels natural. The hidden iOS 4.3 multitasking gestures (upgrade to 4.3, attach iPad to Xcode 4, click enable for development) make it a breeze to flip through apps. I can be chatting with Chad in Campfire via the great Sparks app, then four finger drag left to go back to Hacker News HD, and then once more to revisit Reeder, where I have perfected my power user controls -- sidebar scrolling with left thumb and main article scrolling with right thumb or index finger.'

Apple iPad 2 Review - Reg Hardware

Apple-iPad-2-RegHardware.jpg

Reg Hardware have published their review of the Apple iPad 2. 'Getting the iPad 2 in your hands shows that while it may be a small step forward on paper, in your hands it's a leap ahead. Two factors are central to this: the dual-core processor Apple calls the A5, and the new casing design. And, as painful as it is for a technology buff to admit it, it's not the chippery that makes the biggest difference. Adding that second core improves the iPad's fluidity, but you have to look for it to notice. The A5 is clocked at the same 1GHz that the original iPad's A4 ran at, but that extra core gives it the ability to smooth the stutters occasionally experienced with the original.'

Apple iPad 2 Review - CNET

Apple-iPad2-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Apple iPad 2. 'The iPad 2 is thin--so thin, in fact, that it feels like a different device. Measuring just 0.34 of an inch, it's thinner than the iPhone 4 and a third thinner than the original iPad. Despite the thinner design, its construction quality is no less rugged than the original's. The back of the iPad is still made from a durable, single slab of aluminum machined to fit the iPad's internal components like a glove. The face of the iPad is covered in the same scratch-resistant glass, with a home button at the bottom of the screen and a new front-facing camera at the top.'

Apple iPad 2 Review - Tablet PC

Apple-iPad-2-Tablet-PC.jpg

Tablet PC have published their review of the new Apple iPad 2. 'The Apple iPad 2 looks exactly like the iPad after a crash diet. It sports the same aluminum backing that provides a sturdy and durable build as well as a cool feel. The aluminum also shrugs off the fingerprints and smudges that plague all-plastic devices like the Xoom and Galaxy Tab. The 9.7-inch display is surrounded by a black or white trim that is a little less than an inch thick and slightly thinner on the longer sides. It can be either white or black, depending on user choice, but I chose black because I feel black better frames the display.'

Apple iPad 2 Review - Laptop Mag

Apple-iPad-2-Laptop-Mag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the new Apple iPad 2 (Verizon Wireless). 'The iPad 2 is the MacBook Air of tablets. Weighing 1.34 pounds and measuring 0.34 inches thick, the iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner and about 15 percent lighter than the iPad. It's also significantly lighter than the Motorola Xoom (1.6 pounds). You really have to hold the iPad 2 in your hands to appreciate the difference. With its sturdy aluminum back, the tablet feels just as solid as before; there's just less of it, which made the iPad 2 easier to hold during long gaming or reading sessions. The smoother, rounded lines also make the iPad 2 feel more natural in your hands. Plus, you now have two color options for the front: white or black.'

Apple iPad 2 Review - PC Advisor

Apple-iPad-2-PC-Advisor.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the new Apple iPad 2 tablet PC. 'The Apple iPad 2 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor. People who have been following Apple's product designs will not be surprised by this. What's interesting is the effect this has on the "grippability" of the product. The original iPad was one of the most solid pieces of hardware we've seen from Apple, but the combination of its weight, thickness, and the curve of its backplate made it a bit hard to hold - and made a case pretty much necessary. It's much more comfortable to hold the Apple iPad 2 in one hand. The slight decrease in weight helps, no doubt, but it's also the thinness - and most notably the fact that the back side of the device tapers to a flat surface in a much shorter distance than its predecessor.'

Apple iPad 3G 32GB Review - Reg Hardware

Apple-iPad-3G-32GB-Reg-Hardware.jpg

Reg Hardware have published a review of the Apple iPad 3G 32GB internet tablet. 'The Wi-Fi reception of the iPad is notoriously variable in quality: even in an upstairs bedroom where I get a decent Wi-Fi signal on a laptop, the chances are that the reception on the iPad will drop off more drastically, the further away I am from the base station. Often, the 3G reception will give a better signal, even at home, which means pages and videos will load quicker and more reliably. The good news is that with a decent signal, 3G on the iPad is really snappy. The speedy A4 processor means that web pages and videos load fast and run smoothly. It's noticeably faster than 3G on an iPhone 3GS, even though it's loading higher resolution images and video content due to the higher pixel resolution of the screen.'

Apple iPad Review - IT Reviews

Apple-iPad-IT-Reviews.jpg

IT Reviews have published their review of the Apple iPad. 'It feels much, much snappier than the iPhone 3GS, for example, and because it ships with many of the same apps (though some like the calendar and e-mail app feature marked design improvements) there are millions of people who already know how to use its snazzy, playful interface. In addition, you get the Safari browser, e-mail, photo and video apps (including YouTube), Google maps, notes, contacts, iPod and so on; there are also pared down versions of Apple's low-end office suite Keynote, Pages and Numbers available from the App Store for less than £5.00 each.'

Apple iPad Wi-Fi Review - PC World

Apple-iPad-Wi-Fi-PC-World.jpg

PC World have published a review of the Apple iPad with Wi-Fi + 3G 64GB. 'The 3G iPad is every bit as good a device as the Wi-Fi-only model, and it's only more capable than its fellow model. There are no significant tradeoffs with the 3G version, as long as you're willing to pay more in exchange for more capability. My colleague Mr. Snell made the case for a 3G version of the iPad well before it shipped, and having one in my hands, I find myself inclined to concur with his conclusions--that 3G connectivity gives this version of the iPad a measure of flexibility missing from the Wi-Fi-only version.'
