Acer Iconia Tab A100 Review - IT Reviews

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A100-IT-Reviews.jpg

IT Reviews have published a review of the Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet. 'This is certainly a nicely specified tablet with a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz and 8GB of built-in storage, with a microSD card slot provided so you can add more. You can opt for 3G support or not. If you want it, you'll add £50 to the WiFi-only price. Importantly there is HDMI out, and the other ports and connectors run to a headphones jack, USB connector and main power jack. There's just one button on the screen bezel, and that's a touch sensitive home screen button. There are two cameras - a 5-megapixel one with small LED flash on the back and a 2-megapixel one on the front. The Acer iconia Tab A100 runs the tablet-specific Android 3.0 'Honeycomb' OS, and that all-important support for Flash is included.'

Acer Iconia A100 Review - Pocket-lint

Acer-Iconia-A100-Pocket-lint.jpg

Pocket-lint have published a review of the Acer Iconia A100 tablet. 'As is the trend, the A100 has only one "hardware" button. This is an Apple-esqe design decision that sort of works, but strikes us as a little pointless. Either have no buttons on the face of the device, or festoon it with the little chaps. There seems to be no point in going halfway. Also, because the home button is a touch-sensitive control, it's all too easy to press it when you're holding the tablet. This means you'll often find yourself dropping out of what you were doing, because you pressed the home button by accident. There's a reason Apple has a physical key on its devices.'

Acer Iconia Tab A100 Review - CNET

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A100-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Acer Iconia Tab A100 (16GB) tablet. 'From a purely aesthetic perspective, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 looks a lot like the A500 we reviewed a few months ago. From its sloped edges to the placement of its front camera and SD card implementation, it's clear that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. However, due to the smaller form factor, the A100 has to settle for micro versions of ports instead of the full-size versions included on the A500. On the bottom edge of the tablet sit the bulk of its ports, including a recessed reset button, Micro-HDMI, Micro-USB, a power adapter port, and a port for connecting to a dock accessory. On the opposite edge, from left to right, are the headphone jack, the power button/screen lock, and a microphone pinhole. On the top edge are the volume rockers, lock switch (which keeps the screen from rotating), and a compartment that opens to reveal the microSD card slot.'

Acer Iconia Tab A100 Review - Laptop Mag

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A100-Laptop-Mag.jpg

A review of the Acer Iconia Tab A100 has been posted over at Laptop Magazine. 'Measuring 7.6 x 4.5 x 0.5 inches and weighing a scant 0.92 pounds, the A100 is about the same size and weight as the original Samsung Galaxy Tab and the HTC Flyer. It shares the same aesthetic touches as its larger sibling, the Acer Iconia Tab A500; the long ends taper in slightly at the corner. The front face of the A100 is surrounded by glossy black plastic, When held in portrait mode, a 2-megapixel camera sits above the screen, while a backlit, touch-sensitive Home sits underneath the display. Yes, Android Honeycomb has a software Home button, but we like having a dedicated Home key.'

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Android Tablet Review - HotHardware

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Review - 3G.co.uk

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A500-3G-co-uk.jpg

A review of the Acer Iconia Tab A500 has been posted over at 3G.co.uk. 'The Tab A500 is a real eye-catcher, with its metal edges and black bevelled screen. That screen measure 10.1 inches - the same as the Xoom, and a tad bigger than the iPad. The device is also heavier than the Xoom - in fact too weighty to carry for long, and it means it's not a first choice for reading ebooks. We'd suggest you get a Kindle if that's what you're after. It seems even heavier now that we've experienced the iPad. Sure, there is an app called Lumiread but it can't compete with iBooks, instead it just takes you to the web to read.'

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Review - Tech Radar

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A500-Tech-Radar.jpg

Tech Radar have published a review of the Acer Iconia Tab A500 Android tablet. 'The Iconia Tab A500 uses the same Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core processor as the Motorola Xoom, they both weigh exactly 730g and both have a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The list goes on: both devices have 32GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and support microSD cards up to 64GB. Yet, the main difference is that the Acer Iconia Tab A500 feels bulkier. That can be a good thing for those who tend to abuse their gadgets mercilessly, since the Iconia Tab A500 has an aluminium back and a sturdier, stockier footprint. In a side-by-side comparison, the Motorola Xoom looks more like an iPad 2 and the Iconia Tab A500 fits in better with a recent crop of Windows 7 tablets, including the rather disappointing Acer Iconia Tab W500.'

Acer Iconia Tab W500 Review - Reg Hardware

Acer-Iconia-Tab-W500-Reg-Hardware.jpg

Reg Hardware have published a review of the Acer Iconia Tab W500 Windows 7 tablet. 'Aesthetically, the W500 is a rather amorphous lump though the slightly sparkly screen surround is a nice visual touch. There's no question marks over the built quality, though: it's as solid as a rock, and the W500's rounded corners and edges make it comfortable to hold. The W500 doesn't have a hugely larger footprint than the iPad 2, but it is nearly twice as thick as the Apple and rather more heavy too. Carry the keyboard dock with you in addition to the tablet, you'll be tucking kit totalling 1.5kg under your arm. Of course, the iPad 2 is the Kate Moss of the tablet world - the W500 compares more favourably with Motorola's 730g Xoom. Acer also claws back some portability points by virtue of the tiny power adaptor

Acer Iconia Tab A500 Review - CNET

Acer-Iconia-Tab-A500-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Acer Iconia Tab A500. 'As with any decent tablet, the centerpiece of Iconia Tab's design is the screen. Measuring 10.1 inches and boasting an LED-backlit 1,280x800-pixel resolution, the tablet's screen does the Android experience justice. And because Honeycomb moves the Android navigation controls off the hardware and into the touch screen, a crisp, accurate screen is more critical than ever. Flip it over, and you'll find a 5-megapixel camera on the back with an integrated LED flash. The back is covered with gunmetal-finished aluminum, with the exception of two strips of plastic that meet your hands at the edges. Near the bottom you'll see a pair of stereo speaker grilles cut out from the aluminum. We worried that our hands would naturally cover up the speaker--and they did--but oddly, it had no effect on the sound quality. Sound seemed to project through the screen more so than the speaker grilles, which is ultimately fine, if a little illogical.'
